Financial Stability

The Center for Resiliency (CFR) is a community-based initiative led by United Way of El Paso County to address both urgent housing instability and long-term trauma recovery in the Paso del Norte region. At the core of the Center’s mission is Resiliency Navigation, a trauma-informed, person-centered approach that ensures individuals and families are guided through complex systems of care to access housing, behavioral health, and supportive resources.

Education

The United Way Parents as Teachers program is a free, evidence-based program available to all, that supports parents and caregivers of children between the ages of 0 and 5 in becoming their child’s first and best teacher. Parent Educators conduct home visits focused on providing parents with guidance about child development through educational and fun activities.
The program focuses on ensuring children meet important developmental milestones to improve school readiness. Participants also gain access to a supportive network, unique events, resources and more. The PAT program is a part of the HOPES collaborative led by El Paso Center for Children and partly funded through the OneStar Foundation as an AmeriCorps program. It is the only AmeriCorps Parents as Teachers program in the nation.

Paso del Norte (PDN) Board Training program
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation, in conjunction with the United Way of El Paso County, is increasing the success of nonprofit organizations that serve our communities. Through workshops, training and summits, this program provides all nonprofit board of directors what they need to undertake their critical responsibilities.

Engagement

VolunteerElPaso is an online database that connects El Pasoans looking to volunteer with opportunities and needs throughout the community. In recent years, the database has helped build the capacity of local food banks, organizations, and shelters to support them with COVID-19 efforts, migrant services, and other critical response efforts. VolunteerElPaso.org serves as the bridge between individuals looking to contribute to the community and organizations in need of volunteer support.
