Deeper Dive: Integrating Youth Development and the 6 Cs in Supervising and Supporting Staff and Building a Welcoming and

This interactive training will provide a deeper dive into the 6 Cs of Youth Development: Competence, Confidence, Character, Caring, Connection and Contribution. The training will review the connection between the 6 Cs and a Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach, including a focus on positive, developmental outcomes for youth resulting in young people with more fully developed social skills, civic and cultural competencies, positive attitudes toward community, and a strong sense of identity (AED/Center for Youth Development Policy Research). Day one: participants will be re-introduced to the 6 Cs and share strategies and activities that specifically support building an inclusive and welcoming program and support the supervision of high-quality staff. This day is appropriate for managers and supervisors. Day 2: the training will focus on providing tools to integrate the 6 Cs into programs for the young people being served and to address challenges in doing so. We will look at the essential program and organizational characteristics that help foster environments where young people move towards positive, long-term outcomes; including youth participation and engagement strategies
