THE BOOST NETWORK
The Borderland Out of School Time (BOOST) Network held its inaugural meeting in December 2015 with representation from twelve organizations throughout the region and has been convening on a quarterly basis since then. The BOOST Network strives to improve and increase out of school time opportunities for youth in the region through professional development and networking events that focus on diversity, innovation, continuous improvement, and quality. Since the first meeting in 2015, the Network has grown to more than 300 professionals from Ciudad Juarez, El Paso, and across Southern New Mexico.
WHAT ARE OUT OF SCHOOL TIME (OST) PROGRAMS
OST programs offer quality enrichment opportunities for school-aged youth through structured sets of activities implemented outside regular school hours, on weekends, or during summer and holiday breaks. Youth participating in OST programs thrive in safe, structured and supportive environments during the hours they are most likely to engage in a range of risky behaviors.
OST programs can be delivered in school, faith and community-based settings and include examples such as afterschool programs, summer camps, and an array of leadership, sports and other recreational activities.
BOOST NETWORK MEMBERSHIP
The BOOST Network is comprised of local OST providers focused on increasing youth engagement in high quality programs. As a member-driven organization, this Network welcomes and seeks out member organizations who want to be a part of group that addresses OST issues in the region.
